A 3-day trip to Kashmir, while short, allows you to experience the essence of its beauty. Here are four detailed itineraries, each with a slightly different focus, for a 3-day (or 3-night, 4-day) trip.

This is the most common and comprehensive itinerary, packing the highlights of the three main destinations. It's fast-paced but gives you a taste of everything.

Srinagar, Pahalgam and Gulmarg Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Srinagar & City Tour

Morning: Arrive at Srinagar Airport (SXR). A private taxi will transfer you to your hotel or a traditional houseboat on Dal Lake.

Afternoon: Settle in and have lunch. Then, begin your city tour of Srinagar.

Mughal Gardens: Visit the famous Mughal Gardens, including Nishat Bagh (Garden of Pleasure), Shalimar Bagh (Abode of Love), and Chashme Shahi. These terraced gardens are a testament to Mughal engineering and are set against the backdrop of the Zabarwan hills.

Shankaracharya Temple: Drive up to this ancient temple perched on a hill, offering panoramic views of the entire Srinagar city and Dal Lake.

Evening: The highlight of the day. Enjoy a serene shikara ride on the iconic Dal Lake. You'll glide past floating gardens, local markets on the water, and intricately designed houseboats. Stay overnight on a houseboat for a unique experience.

Day 2

Day Trip to Pahalgam

Morning: After breakfast, embark on a scenic day trip to Pahalgam, the "Valley of Shepherds" (approximately 2.5-3 hours drive one way). The drive is beautiful, passing through saffron fields and pine forests, with the Lidder River flowing alongside the road.

En-route: You can stop at the historic Awantipura Ruins, an ancient Hindu temple.

Afternoon: Upon reaching Pahalgam, you can hire a local cab to visit the famous valleys:

Betaab Valley: Named after the Bollywood movie "Betaab," this valley is known for its lush meadows, pine forests, and a crystal-clear stream.

Aru Valley: A tranquil meadow known for its stunning landscapes and as a base camp for various treks.

Evening: Drive back to Srinagar for dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 3

Day Trip to Gulmarg & Departure

Morning: After an early breakfast, take a day trip to Gulmarg, the "Meadow of Flowers" (approximately 1.5-2 hours drive one way). The journey is a treat, with views of snow-capped peaks and tall conifers.

Afternoon:

Gulmarg Gondola: A must-do activity. Take a ride on the Gulmarg Gondola, the second-highest cable car in the world. Phase 1 takes you to Kongdoori Station and Phase 2 goes up to Apharwat Peak, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Enjoy optional activities like pony rides or a walk through the meadows. In winter, this is a prime skiing destination.

Evening: Drive back to Srinagar. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Srinagar Airport for your onward journey.
